Welcome to my photography page. I'm Rao Gobburu, amateur photographer! Which really means that I have a day job and believe me, I have been told enough times not to give up my day job. Some words I often use to describe myself are engineer, student, curious, tinkerer, passionate, avid reader, tongue tied, often boring and so on.....
Frequently the question crops ups "What do you photograph?" I have not found a particular niche or the one area of photography that really interests me to the exclusion of others. My interests? All over the map - people portraits are fascinating, street photography that expresses the human dignity rather than just capturing the bleak is very interesting, landscapes evoke a sense of wonder, water intrigues and travel expands understanding. But the idea that resonates with me is Minor White's notion of "interpreted reality". It's the viewpoint that seems to say "Let me share with you and try to tell you what I saw". It's not a picture taken to record but to express. So in response to my friends who ask "was the sky really that vivid shade of red?" - my answer is "that is my impression and hope you like it".
It is too early to think that folks will actually be interested in buying a picture in these galleries but if, wonder of wonders, you are interested than do get in touch with me. Happy to consider either print form or as licensed images.
Please browse the galleries and enjoy! If you see something interesting, please do tell me and sign the guest book. All of us need encouragement and I am no exception. Do keep checking back, I rotate the galleries every few weeks.
